What is a domain name?

A domain name is a text name (e.g. neonbonsai.com) which provides a more memorable name to replace the numeric IP addresses e.g. 209.85.229.99.
Most computers connected to the Internet are identified by a unique number called an IP address. Domain names provide a more intuitive way to name and find a website.

What is an IP address?

Internet Protocol (IP) address is an identification number that is assigned to devices in a computer network.
e.g. 209.85.229.99 is the IP address for www.google.com

Every computer connected to the Internet is assigned a unique IP address.

By the way, if you want to find the IP address for any URL then all you need to do is:

Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Command prompt > enter "ping" followed by the URL (e.g. ping www.google.com) > [Enter].

What is a URL?

Universal Resource Locator (URL) is also referred to as a Web address.

www.neonbonsai.com/faqs/faqs.html is the URL for this page.

- Global market
Trade internationally as easily as you can within the UK.

How much does a website cost?

The cost of a website varies dramatically depending on what you are looking for, for example a 50 page site with e-commerce capabilities will differ from a 5 page small business site.

Every website is unique therefore it is difficult to provide an accurate price list. It is possible to create a simple site with three to four pages from as little as £275, although if required single page sites are also available.

The factors which influence the cost are; how much graphic design is required e.g. creating icons, logos and image editing, if animation is required, level of site optimisation e.g. if Pay-per-click (PPC) is required.

We are always happy to chat through your requirements, so please feel free to get in touch for an obligation free quotation.

What are my on going costs?

Following the completion of your website the only on-going cost would be approximately £40 per year. This cost is for the renewal of your domain name and host server account.
